Questions about the process

Will it really look like my photo?

Yes. We optimize your photo by hand (crop, contrast, colors) into a stitch-ready design and email you a free design preview within 24 hours, before anything is printed. You can ask for changes before you approve. The finished piece is a stylized, textured portrait, not a photo print.

Do I need any crafting experience?

No. Push the needle through the canvas, pull it back, move one step, repeat. The illustrated guide is written for complete beginners. Mistakes are easy to undo: pull the loops out and punch again.

What if my photo isn't perfect?

A sharp phone photo is all you need. We simplify every photo into clear shapes by hand and send you a free design preview before anything is printed. If something looks off, ask for changes or send a different photo before you approve. For extra peace of mind, add the Photo Check (+$5): one of our experts checks and approves your photo before production.

Do I see the preview before I pay?

You place your order with your photo, and we email your free design preview within 24 hours. You can ask for changes before you approve, and nothing is printed until you do.

What's in the box?

A pre-printed custom canvas, color-matched yarn (10 to 18 colors), an adjustable punch needle with threader, a wooden frame, an illustrated guide with color chart and a hanging kit. Nothing else to buy.

Which size should I choose?

Small (16 × 20 in) for one person or pet. Medium (20 × 24 in) for two people or pets, our most popular size. Large (24 × 32 in) for three to five people or pets. More than five? Email us your photo first. Every size includes the frame.

How long does it take to stitch?

It depends on the size and how much detail your photo has. Medium and Large take longer because there's more to fill. It's meant to be enjoyable, not fast.

How long until it arrives?

Your free design preview arrives by email within 24 hours. Your kit arrives 2–3 business days after you approve it, with free tracked shipping to any US address. For a special date, order about a week ahead. For Christmas, order by December 20 (estimated).

Is it a good gift?

Yes. Give the kit so they enjoy the making, or stitch it yourself and give the finished artwork. You can ship it straight to the recipient by entering their address at checkout. Your design preview is emailed to you, not to them, so the surprise stays safe.

Can I use any photo?

Please use photos you took yourself or have permission to use, for example a wedding photo with your photographer's OK. We can't turn paintings or illustrations by other artists into kits.

What if something is wrong with my order?

If anything arrives damaged, incomplete or different from what you approved, email hello@custom-punch-needle.com with a photo and we replace it free of charge. Every kit is made to order, so printed kits can't be returned. That's why you see and approve the design first.
